Successful 22nd Annual Exposition
For those of you that joined us for the 22nd Annual Exposition we thank you for visiting us and enjoying the beautiful weather, food, and events that were planned. The 23rd Annual Exposition planning is under way for the last weekend in July, 2013. The feature equipment and tractors will be International.
The plowing demonstration was a new addition this year to revive interest in the old art of plowing. The Leduc West Antique Society has been invited to participate in an antique plowing demonstration at the World's Plowing Competition at the Olds College 100th Anniversary Celebration on July 18 - 19, 2013.
The tractor square dancing was a crowd pleaser, as always, with spectators taking their seats well in advance of the dance beginning so that a minute would not be missed followed by the sheep dog demonstration. The sawmill, shingle making, threshing, and miniature bale making were also popular events held twice each day.
An array of antique stationary engines in working order demonstrated pumping water, sawing logs, and milling grain to name but a few tasks that these engines can be used for.
A large selection of tractors were on display ranging from Ford with Flat Head V8 engines to Fergusons with half tracks and with steel wheels to International, Allis Chalmers, John Deere, to name a few.
Every pew was taken for the Sunday morning service in the church for the non-denominational service.
If the pace of the “living the past for future generations” was too slow, the tractor pulls had over 80 participants this year. The kids pedal tractor pull event was also a “hit” with the younger crowd.
We are going to be at the Camrose Founder’s Day Festival on August 11, 2012 promoting our events, so come by the Railway Station and look for our tent. On August 18, 2012 we will be at the Leduc #1 Discovery Center.
Mark your calendar for September 15, 2012 for our annual Fall Harvest. See you there!
